A friend asked me yesterday an intelligent question : What’s Christmas ? Personally I never asked myself the question, because I always thought that it was the celebration of the traditional birth date of Jesus. But my question is, why is it on December 25th and not on January 1st ? I thought that the Gregorian Calendar was based on Jesus birth date, so in this case should we say that Jesus was born 6 days before JC ??? Or does the Gregorian year begin on December 25th, so why celebrating the January 1st ? Maybe it’s better to call it a new administrative year as we do in Tunisia, otherwise I think it’s lot of confusion !
