Believe it or not and this is not a joke, Microsoft made three mistakes in Windows XP have cost the world roughly $25 Billion of Energy and resulted in the release of 225 million tons of CO2. Something was telling me that there were something wrong with WinXP’s entropy.
Microsoft has been touting Vista’s new power saving features, saying that upgrading to Vista could easily save consumers and corporations $50 to $75 per computer per year in energy costs. The question, though, is what marvelous new code makes this miracle possible. The answer? They fixed three stupid mistakes that have cost the world billions of dollars and millions of tons of CO2 in the past five years.
I always thought that Internet Mobile prices in Jordan are cheapest than KSA, until yesterday. I checked MobileCom, since Fastlink website was not working, and for example the price for 20Mo (monthly offer) is available for 13 JOD (about $18.34). While the offer that I use from Mobily is for only 25 SAR the 20MB (about $6.67), which is the best offer here. Even offers from STC are better for example the 20Mo at SAWA cost about $13.60 and for Jawal they have 25Mo for $13.33.
I forgot about exact prices of internet mobile at Tunisiana, I remember when I test it this summer it was very slow and too much expensive. If someone have an idea about prices for Tunisiana or other arab countries it will be great to know about different available offers.

Sincerely I can’t find the words, after 40 years of the Carthage Cinematographic Festival the edition 2006 looks to be the worst and promising even the worse for the future of Cinema in Tunisia. First of all we don’t have really cinema in Tunisia, beside few films that we all know, and that we cannot watch with family. Personally I saw because I thought it was Tunisian and discovered later that it is not, the kind of cinema that want to attract you with stupid ideas, grabbing problems from the society that might shock you, nudity and kisses, to make a final piece of shit not of art. I’m sorry.
I didn’t see any film from the JCC of this year, thanks god, but I’m trying to following the news and feedbacks from many different sources. What shocked me this year that even public isn’t satisfied with the organization of the JCC and the films participating especially Tunisian ones. The kind of cinema that cannot become an industry such Egypt for example, and of course can’t progress to show at least some of the great values of our society and culture before it disappear.

I’m not sure if it’s possible today to share a taxi with someone you don’t know especially in New York, but Hitchesters.com didn’t care about the current political and legal conditions and offered the crazy possibility to save money on your taxi ride. The service is in beta test in New York city only and will match you up with another traveler so you can split the cost of a taxi ride. You can coordinates with people in the same flight than yours, with sms exchange, to avoid flight delays, but you can use it with anybody from the city going to the airport. I was just wondering why airport only trips since it could be used anywhere ?
Crazy idea and I’m not sure how they will monetize their service, they didn’t figure it out too, probably with advertising ? Personally I don’t think that I’ll go for such service, I won’t share my taxi no matter the reason. Imagine you share a taxi with someone suspected by federal service and both got arrested ? Yeah, the ride will finish in jail. What do you think ? Would you share a cab to save money ?
I spend two hours compiling ImageMagick to make the new BetterFileUploader 2.0 plugin works. Finally we make it work with the help of Sadri. The problem that Image::Magick require the latest ImageMagick installed, while in rpm list I have an old version only. Anyway now you can enjoy uploading and resizing images on phpmagazine.net, note that we’ll start accepting new members very soon. Currently I’m testing the wheeljack-revision of Movable Type which introduce a feature that I was looking for since long time which is cloning blogs in addition to the advanced user permissions system.
I still have a long list of todos for our publishing platform, those who have access on the wiki can check (or contact me for pass - members only). Trying to get ready for next year, so we can relaunch the network with lot of great new services, one of them is paid ! That’s lot of good news that I don’t want to announce now, that was just a glimpse.
This is a crazy experiments that required 25l two-liter bottles of Diet Coke, 1.506 mentos mints and way too much free time !!
Wikimapia is a very original collaborative website inspired by wikipedia and powered by Google Maps, the authors of the project want to create a project to describe the whole planet Earth. I think they succeed ! You can check Tunis on Wikimapia and see current places flagged, or add flags to places not flagged yet. This will be great for example if you are looking for any place you can directly check it exactly on Google maps, and find easily your path to go there.
Of course fault of privacy, don’t add your name or your home with big precision, but public places will be with great help. I have also flagged some important places in the quarter where I live now in Holy Makkah. Try also using their search feature, you can probably find your home already flagged by someone else ! A very original project
Yesterday I went on a trip in Thowal, about 130 or 150 Km in the north of Makkah direction of Medinah. It’s a very small city but I heard that the beach is very beautiful there, and in reality the red sea is almost the same everywhere. There is no real beach, rocks almost everywhere. We arrived a little before the sunset, my friends tried to find a good place to swim but unfortunately there was nothing good.
After Isha prayer came the dinner !! Miam miam, about 15kg of fish fried and grilled
I’m not fan of fish, but it was great, maybe better than last year trip. Everybody left the night few hours after dinner, but me with three other friends spend the night there and profit to go swimming in the morning. Lucky me, we find an excellent place for swimming and spend few great hours before going back home.
