After so many years, Paypal, the worst payment system worldwide, is finally available for Tunisia. Even it’s very bad, it’s a solution for many e-commerce websites which accept paypal for their products and services. Tunisia is one of the few arab countries which paypal opened their service for them like : Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates.
Anyway to get full profit you’ll need a credit card, or probably start a small business and start accepting paypal payment. But, currently you can only spend your money since withdraw funds isn’t yet available. Probably when this feature will be enabled in the future it will be a great alternative even if paypal fees are very high compared to many other e-commerce solutions.

In the last days I’ve been spammed with sms advertisment, something that started to be seriously very annoying !! That’s some samples of what I’m receiving with numbers in ********** because for every game they have a different number and its hundreds of SMS. I don’t know why these days I’m attracting spammers more than usual, I have blocked more than 60 IPs until of spammers on the website, but now I need an antispam for my mobile !!! Anybody knows a good one ???
It’s just a question by phone that the journalist from Al Medina Newspaper asked me right now : “In ramadhan do you prefer going out with friends or with family ?”. The answer is very obvious since my family is in Tunis, I don’t have the choice, but if it was here it will be certainly with family. Especially for ramadhan, I prefer to spend it more with family than hanging with friends, I’ll say 80% for family and 20% for friends. And you what do you prefer ?
This morning I went to Alahli Bank to open a bank account, and in just half an hour the account was ready with my ATM card. Their services are really great at first glance, even that I’m more attracted to the saudi fransi bank, but I’m very worried because I see it always crowded : the agency which is close to my home and also the ATMs.
They offer service for buying and selling shares throught ATM and internet, also you can pay your Utility bills, electricity bills… Moreover, you can transfer money between your accounts or to others within NCB or any other bank inside the Kingdom or world wide. But They told me that I have to wait after Aid to get mastercard or visa card. Anyway its great that I have just to cross the street to reach the agency, also it was the first time that I opened a bank account with 0.00 
If you are a fun of chemistry, there is something new to be added to the periodic table of elements, The element 118 : Ununoctium. I saw the news first on slashdot announcing that element 118 have been created. In science from discovered to created there is a big difference, maybe nerds there are more used to deal with technology where you can create. The nature of elements God created and we just discover what already exist.
Anyway Ununoctium is the temporary name of this noble gas with the atomic number 118. Ignoring instability due to likely radioactivity, scientists expect that:
* Ununoctium would be much more chemically reactive than xenon and radon. It likely would form stable oxides (UuoO3 etc) as well as chlorides and fluorides. However, its radioactivity means that, like radon, few compounds can be expected to form.
* If ununoctium were reasonably common in nature and if it formed a stable oxide, Uuo would likely occur as an oxide mineral and not as the gas.
Update : Someone told me that they “Actually created and discovered it, since they had to make it from smaller nuclei before it could be observed.”
In March 2007 PHP Magazine Network will have exactly two years since its first creation, I’m not going to celebrate a birthday, but I want to remember the first day I registered the domain. In that day I wanted to launch something new, but I didn’t knew what or how. I thought it will be great idea if we could attract many PHP authors in one website, but in practice I knew that it’s very difficult to realize. So day after day the concept of PHPMagazine.net become more clear and from 4 or 5 blogs, today we have more than 20 blogs in the network without counting the PHP Planet, the Shop, the forums … and of course our perso blogs
Just to say that PHPMagazine.net is not only about PHP, but also about any related technology from AJAX, to Firefox, to Hosting providers, WebServices, XML, Open Source, Web Design, Blogging, Advertising, … We even talk about VoiceXML and telephony application development, crazy yes ? Today its the 10th october, and its already 18 ramadhan here in KSA ! But it looks like the salary will be coming next month, because tomorrow its wednesday and even if it came from Ryadh tomorrow they’ll certainly bring it next saturday, also there is no sign that it will really came tomorrow. Anyway this is the first time that something like this happens, and the problem that it is ramadhan and many of my collegues have very low salary and lot of engagements, and families … etc !
Personaly I have already spend my salary before it came thanks to my new appartment, I still need to buy a clim, a bed and probably more small stuff. Ask any saudi here about living without a clim, he’ll tell you that I’m crazy !! I used to work on some weather reports this week and its higher than 40C everyday, around 30C the nights !! That’s not all, the fan in my bedroom is broken too, and today the kitchinette tap !! Thanks god my budget allowed me to get a new home fan, hoping that I can survive with it until next month
We was kidding in the beginning of ramadhan about sitting in the haram and how much money we could collect, it was funny but we could become rich in few days haha !! No serious I need to do omra before the end of ramadan inchallah, especially that now it become overcrowded. Yesterday in the Isha prayer I was almost in the street, the best time will be exactly during maghreb or probably in the morning but it will be soooo hot !!!
If you are wondering what does the title mean, it’s the translation using Google Arabic-English Beta translator of “لا تخدعك المظاهر”, why I put in High-Tech category ? Because it’s an experimental translation product using an innovative technique to translate based on the cached database of websites in the Google’s Servers. The era of miracles is over since thousands of years, and an obvious formula that all programmers know : If you don’t tell to computers what to do, it can’t do anything by itself, the results in this case will be impredictable.
I just saw an interview on Alriyadh Newspaper about Camel Server, it’s an arabic web server software including Apache, PHP, MySQL and some others open source software. The author, daif, is one of my friends and collegue in work and one of the few guys I met here who are open source evangelists. What is funny that last week he asked me to took him a pict, but didn’t told me why and today I saw it on the newspaper lol. Anyway , congratulation for this work and hope to see you in the future with a real title of “engineer”, you know what I’m talking about
