It’s really sad how Arabs living in US are treated today, when they go to their homeland they are a US tax-payer destroying people’s houses with your money, and when come back to the US, they are suspected terrorist and plane hijacker ! I was reading the story of Raed Jarrar which is really amazing ! Raed was wearing a tshirt with arabic transcript written on it in both english and arabic “Will Not Be Silent”, and was not allowed to take the airplane until he change it and wear another one. No legal issue at all, the only thing they told him that “Many people called and complained about his t-shirt”.

I was thinking about going to the ETel 2007 in San Fransisco in March 2007 as PHPMagazine.net is media Sponsor of the Event. But now I’m thinking thousands times about it, and sinceraly I’m not ready to talk with racist or ignorant people like this in airport. It’s not like Tunisia this july I was very welcomed by officiers and they didn’t even let me wait in the queue with others ! Moral of the story, I’m so distugsted to go anywhere ! we got always this usual problem: how to say them that we are not all terrorist but that we don’t agree with them without being intercepted in the airports …

this an another [hidden] problem about their globalisation !

Hatem, these are exceptions and in this case it was the airline personnel (JetBlue) who took this decision not the government officers because they know better that it is illegal to do that. This person can file a lawsuit against JetBlue and with a good lawyer, he can win it.
I’ve been in the US for 11 years and I never felt ther racism you’re talking about but it is true that after 9/11 security got tougher and sometimes security people focus more on arabs than others.

PS: I live in SF, so feel free to drop a line while you’re there :-)
