The only company to have sent tourists into space, Space Adventures, has announced plans to develop a commercial spaceport in the UAE, from where it will operate suborbital flights. The project will cost $265 million. The Russian-built suborbital vehicle called Explorer will have the capacity to transport up to five people to an altitude of nearly 100km in space, but the project’s schedule is yet to be announced

I laughed at reading comments, just wondering why UAE was choosed for such big project ? Someone said that I hear gas is cheaper than drinking water in the middle east., yes its certainly cheaper but not that cheap. Prices of gas and petrol increased in the last years very considerably, and still increasing but still acceptable compared to other countries. A stingy who hear this and visit the middle east will certainly drink gas in place of water :-)

Notice that spaceship use fuel just during ignition, but generally the liquid oxygen is used to propulse the engine to outerspace. So in my opinion the main reason behind using UAE is not fuel, but the country is the better place for such tourism activity. Remember that the only 6 stars hotel exist only in UAE and nowhere else in the world.
