Something I was noticing in the PHP community recently that date between two release become more and more shorter. Its somehow going very very fast ! 4 Days only between the 5.1.0 and 5.1.1 ! and the 5.0.5 was released just one month before, the latest 5.1.2 released this month on january 12 …

What I was thinking about is the adoption of PHP5 in production servers, when system admins saw 4 days between two release they will certainly be worried about updating the next stable version. And who knows that its stable ! Was it necessary to release the 5.1.0 ? While it came with new features and not really big security issues.

Certainly we all giving much importance to PHP5 and what it could provide as enterprise solutions for professionals, but there is two things that I was thinking about :
1- Why this forcing concerning the release time of new versions of PHP5
2- And does it help the development of PHP5 ?

Yesterday I was at pizza hut having a midnight pizza, but sincerely I won’t do it again anymore. The pizza looks nice but taste no good at all, and I don’t know why today something was invinting me to have pizza too. There is a new restaurant not very known its called Amigos pizza (Sounds like amigolo) so today I went there and I was surprized that there is a promotion, for every pizza you buy the second is free ! hummm

I invited Okworld to help me for the second pizza, and then falled asleep as usual. Who can resist sleeping in this world But I was surprized when I woke up and find a message in my mobile, there was another pizza waiting ! What can I say ? And I learned something new also today, looks like there is also an excellent promotion at pizza hut every saturday, I don’t remember the price but its a little more than a small pizza and you can eat anything you want illimited. To give it a try next thursday and friday I won’t eat anything to be ready for saturday haha I need to find something similiar for the other days too !!

Vebjّrn Selbekk and Edgar Kokkvold are the two guys behind the caricature pictures of the prophet PBUH which have been published in magazinet in Denmark. These two guys are going to make the Denmark loose more than 39 milliard Euro if the boycott of “made in Denmark” continue until august 2006 according to a news in the first television of the country.

After lot of requests from fans to chat with Sami Yusuf online, the first chat session is scheduled on the 1st of February 2005 at 20:00 GMT. I would like to thank Sohrab so much for this exclusiv news and for transmitting all fans message to Sami directly. Sami which will be in Cairo, Egypt next wednesday on 18 january at virgin megastore, city stars, for an album signin session.

Just wanted to wish happy Eid for everyone ! I was offline for few days as you may noticed and I’ll be back online in the next days inchallah. Today is last day in pilgrimage, and since yesterday muslims start leaving Holy makkah to go back their countries. Yesterday as you may heared there was about 350 dead in the stampede which happened on the Jamarat Bridge in Mina. None of the news I heared or read talked in details about the accident but it happened certainly under the bridge and there is really big difference in the organisation under the bridge and on it.

First under the bridge people can enter the first Jamara from all directions, and of course they can go out from all directions too, while on the bridge there is just one direction which is from the first Jamara to the second one. I passed just after the accident happen on the Jamarat bridge and really didn’t notice anything strange ! Everything was very normal. Since today I’m officially in holidays, Yahooooo !!! I’ll be officially offline for almost one week since this sunday, or maybe even saturday. Hope you won’t find the time very long. January 2006 have been very busy month, it’s not common to have a busy january in my life, but this year there was lot of things to do, and lot that I’ll miss.

The first thing that I can’t attend is the Emerging Telephony conference, which will be hold from 24-26 january 2006 in San Fransisco. Hope I’ll be there for the next conf and really thank Surj for the invitation. It have been almost three years that I’m developping VoiceXML Solutions for PHP, and when a big event is hold I’m off, very wired !

The second meeting fortunately is online and will be hold this friday (tomorrow), as I have announced in the post before, I’ll have a speech about Code generators and it will be a first occasion to meet more members of the PHP4Arab community. I certainly know many names but never have the occasion to talk with them even online in a chat room.

Friday january 6, 2006 will be held the first online meeting of the PHP4arab groups. The meeting will be on MSN group at 17h GMT, if you are interested to assist it’s open ! I’ll make a speech about Code Generators, so if you have something you want to know or to hear about code generators let me know
The speech won’t be long, as a first experience of online meeting, it will be followed by materials such graphics and code so you can ask questions. Rendez-vous tomorrow friday 6/1/06 at 17h GMT. To participate just join the group and be on time friday in the chat channel of the group. If you have question about the meeting itself contact one of the coordinators Hani Gamal, Mokhtar Diab (see group page on msn).

amigolo is a new social network that have been just launched. Fully written in PHP, amigolo is a new generation of social network which introduce the power of social software with Blogs, Groups, Tags, Events, Channels, Wiki, Polls, File sharing, Messenging … etc. And certainly lot of Fun !

What I liked with amigolo is the great features already implemented and the possibility to extend its features. There is for example the possibility to invite your MSN and Gmail friends to build your social network. Social networking is built upon the idea of degrees of relationship to you, so you are the centre of your network and thus you are degree zero. Your friends are one degree away and their friends are two degrees away from you and so on.
