Microsoft is loosing another market ? Certainly the progress of Safari browser in MACOS is huge to support almost all available web technologies. But to make Microsoft stops its development to Internet Explorer for MAC and suggest MAC users to move to Safari ? Sounds weird !!
In June 2003, the Microsoft Macintosh Business Unit announced that Internet Explorer for Mac would undergo no further development, and support would cease in 2005. In accordance with published support lifecycle policies, Microsoft will end support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31st, 2005, and will provide no further security or performance updates.
Additionally, as of January 31st, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac will no longer be available for download from Mactopia. It is recommended that Macintosh users migrate to more recent web browsing technologies such as Apple’s Safari.
Security and performance update, I think these are the two keys of this strategic decision ! While for the other plateforms Firefox is start winning a larger part of the business. Updating IE costs so much for microsoft that they decided to stop its development ? Or mac now is considered as a concurrent, and they preferred to keep their software an exclusivity for windows ?
Now the war is open between Firefox and Safari, which both are making great work. Safari for mac plateforme only and Firefox for all the plateformes. Many problems will be faces certainly, mainly about compatibility of websites on Safari or Firefox, specially for those who develop on IE only. Hey ! It’s time to change, Microsoft told ya !

Stopping IE support for Windows should be a very good decision from M$, a kind of christmas gift to the users
since i am using Firefox on my PC laptop (waiting for Macintel probably in january), i even forgot that M$ has a navigator. anyway, IE really sucks. Viva la liberta !
PS : there is a bug on your blog. everytime i want to type a simple comma, it loads the Search option on Firefox

IE is also the worst browser on windows mobile. It will be really a serious decision to give up developping IE.
Macintel january ? Me waiting too !!
About the bug, which firefox version are u using ? Its all working fine here with Firefox 1.5 on winxp.

The first Macintel computers were expected on june. but rumors say they’ll be unveiled on january with the MacWorld Expo.
Firefox 1.5 on XP. the bug disappeared.
