Katrina hits USA and New Orleans in one of the worst disasters. Thousands of victims, a city flooded by water and under danger of epedimy, there is people still dying even two weeks after the hurricane passed !
Washington asked officially for help, some people will say why should I help the richest country in the world ! There is some realities that we should know, first that nobody can face the force of the nature, do you know what a hurricane category 5 mean ? . Second that poverty rate in the U.S. has risen to an incredible 12.5% of the nation under President Bush only and 45 million people are without health insurance !
Updated : Also this news came to confirm my thoughts, death rates in the US have fallen by 32% in the last 30 years. But the news is not all good, particularly for women and the obese. (New Scientist)
Third, USA or Bush Administration to be more precise started a war against an unknown ennemy after the 11/9 incident. “Bush’s former chief economic adviser, Lawrence Lindsey, said the war in Iraq would cost between $100 and $200 billion“, and before it there was a war in afghanistan, and nobody knows who’s next !
What was the results of all those wars ? absolutely nothing, except that there is more and more ennemies for USA, they are all unknown : names, places, how they’re acting … something that make anybody could be arrested, humiliated, for the simple reason that he’s “muslim”, and the war was against “terrorism” !

Efforts made in tech world is notable also lot of websites are contributin in hurricane relief such Something Awful humour site, which raised almost $28,000 in less than 9 hours. PHP|Arch make a very nice action also for the hurricane they’re collecting funds by selling a handy little Pocket PHP Reference. Google made a special page dedicated for hurricane Katrina, Amazon collected until now US $12,318,268.69, Paypal also made a small page here, but sorry I don’t trust paypal anymore … And the list is very very long !!
Now if you want to donate, do it directly to the Red Cross organisation. Inspite of all these efforts, there is lot of people that still need help. There is nothing related to politics, but its human !
