Can bloggers create a new kind of directories ? the problem that face all search engines and blogging portals is spam blogs which they can’t find a solution. Spammers create blogs automaticly and post random content to get listed on search engines and get a higher page rank.
Day after day the phenomena become very annoying specially on automated services, you’re looking for informations about X or Y and you find fake blogs which will link you to a business or another.
While classic directories like Yahoo, google and dmoz are very restrictive to these spammers and you’ll probably never find them while browsing there. Dmoz is certainly the largest human-edited directory of the web, Yahoo also thanks to their paid inclusion if you’re looking for professionals you’ll just find them and they pay to be listed, Google is based on dmoz and its own technology to update their listing.
All of the classic classified have solved the spam problem, but the problem with bloggers is still there. Today technorati added a Blog Finder service, where you can be listed very easily just by adding a tag rel=”tag directory” in your blog, the first problem that everybody can join very easily, specially spammers
Maybe blog popularity could influence in the new technorati directory, but could not stop spammer from being listed there. The problem is more important with feedster, because I face more and more spam blogs there.
The blogging world is increasing very fast, but only the giant still have an answer to such problems because they are already there ! the new business who want to take a place with them will keep facing problems until they become big. And its not a bug, its a business strategy.
